At 11:32 UT there was a further earthquake in Balochistan, this time Mw=6.2 at 10 km depth. This is sufficiently large and shallow to cause considerable additional damage, including landslides. Just a short aside from landslides. In January 2006 I attended a conference organised by the Geological Survey of Pakistan. The theme was to gain an understanding of the lessons learnt from the Kashmir earthquake – the proceedings are available online here.
