Planet Labs has now captured and released high resolution imagery of the Williamson Mine tailings dam breach in Tanzania

Planet Labs has captured a PlanetScope image of the Williamson Diamond Mine tailings dam failure that shows both the breach and the plume.

Another major tailings dam failure has occurred in Africa, this time at the Williamson Mine in Tanzania. The plume of pollution is >6 km long.

In May 2022 heavy rainfall triggered many landslides at Dima Hasao district in Assam, India. In a new paper in the journal Landslides, Roy et al. (2022) have mapped >5000 individual slides in this event.
