#AntarcticLog: Climate hope via Greta Thunberg

Posted by Shane Hanlon

#AntarcticLog is a series of comics by Karen Romano Young. You can find the originals here

The International Panel on Climate Change released a report this week full of a big dollop of reality — the impact human life has had on global temperature — and a dose of hope — the potential to stem change if we act quickly.  I thought about what I could say about this through #AntarcticLog, skimmed through my nearly 200 comics, and stopped cold at the ones about Greta Thunberg.

Part of the misinformation about global warming is the idea that individuals are guilty for the collective practices that led to the rise in temperature. Political leaders and captains of industry who failed to establish better practices hold the reins for this all-but-runaway situation.

Yet raindrops fill oceans, and small acts and voices can add up to big messages.

Greta Thunberg inspires me, as does anyone willing to put themselves on the line and do the right thing.
