Sharing Science is at ESA 2017!!!

(Well…Shane is.) By Shane M Hanlon

I’m an ecologist by training. Before attending AGU’s Fall Meeting every December, I used to attend the Ecological Society of America’s annual meeting each August. Since leaving my waders (well, mostly) for the “business casual” world of DC, I haven’t had the opportunity/need to attend ESA, though I do miss the ecological world. Welp, this year, I’m combining my scicomm world and research world to head back to ESA2017!

Similar to AGU, ESA has sections, one of which is the ESA SciComm section. They organize events and initiatives similar to Sharing Science such as Sketch Your Science, their #MySciComm blog, and Ask a Pro, the latter of which will feature me! I’ll also be wearing one of my non-AGU hats and co-hosting a Story Collider event where ecologists talk about the people behind the science.

So, if you’re at ESA2017 and want to chat about scicomm, policy, herps, disease ecology, careers outside of academia, etc., hit me up! You can email me at [email protected] or find me on Twitter at @EcologyOfShane.
