Two articles on Icelandic Met Office website provide detail on the Fagraskógarfjall landslide. The slide, which was detected by the seismic network, had a source volume of about 7 million cubic metres and showed quite a high level of mobility

A huge explosion on the Leech Xpress pipeline in West Virginia on 7th June 2018 was caused by land subsidence, which appears to be a technical term for a landslide, where the pipeline was crossing a steep ridge

Losses from landslides in China – a new study
In a new paper in the journal Landslides, Lin and Wong (2018) analyse losses from landslides in China from 1950 to 2016. They show that, excluding earthquake triggered events, 28,139 people died in 1233 fatal landslide events.

Ishkoman, Pakistan: a valley blocking glacial debris flow this week (updated with satellite imagery)
Various reports suggest that there was a major glacial debris flow in the Ishkoman Valley in the Gilgit region of northern Pakistan on Tuesday. This appears to have left the river blocked and a lake has developed

Hidroituango: an update
Problems continue at the Hidroituango dam site in Colombia. Last week a significant seismic event was recorded in the power house cavern, which is thought to have been generated by a further rockfall in the underground excavation.

Panjshir province, Afghanistan: using Planet Labs imagery to interpret the deadly debris flow
On 12th July 2018 a massive debris flow struck the village of Pashgor in Panjshir province, Afghanistan, killing at least ten people. Planet Labs imagery shows that this was triggered by the collapse of an ephemeral lake about 15 km upstream
