Geo-Eye Image shows Destruction from Tuscaloosa Tornado
Posted by Dan Satterfield
GeoEye is a commercial satellite imagery company and they released a high-resolution image showing the damage path from the EF 4 tornado through Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Wednesday April 27. Click the image for a much higher resolution. You can also download an image file for Google Earth showing the track of all the strong tornadoes in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee here. Once you load it into Google Earth you can see images like the one below.
Click the image to see a higher resolution, but it’s best to download the Google Earth file and look at all of the tracks there. I will post some more pics of the Jackson County, Alabama tornado damage later this evening.

Dan, just wanted to provide a damage report to possible update your track “end” for the HUN #9 EF-1. I had a rather large pecan tree uprooted at 146 Rainbow Circle, Madison. That is just northeast of your present track end. There was also a few trees broken off on Forrest Street just east of me. Not much else after that, from what I can tell. Thanks to all at the station for keeping us informed throughout the event.
