Last night I gave the annual Royal Geographical Society lecture at Latymer Upper School in west London. The talk was a slightly modified version of my RGS talk in Hong Kong earlier this year (with a slightly different name – “The Hazards of Geography – Earthquakes and Landslides”). Dave Petley is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hull in the United Kingdom. His blog provides commentary and analysis of landslide events occurring worldwide, including the landslides themselves, latest research, and conferences and meetings.
Very interesting presentation. But the information about budgeting hazards at the end was very disappointing. Hopefully in the near future, some politics will treat this more seriously…
