Maya Pincus is the Science Communications Officer for the U.S. Science Support Program, which facilitates involvement of the U.S. scientific community in the International Ocean Discovery Program. Dedicated to making science engaging and accessible to everyone, she transitioned away from academia to work as a high school Earth science teacher in New York City for almost a decade, before making the next shift to informal education and full-time communications. She received her MS in geology at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez and her MAT at the American Museum of Natural History.
