Send us your science-themed Halloween costumes

Featured here is a comprehensive solar system with sun and the planets, worn by Kathleen Thatcher. The sun is displayed with a mask and the planets hang surrounding the sun. Thatcher chose a dark pair of pajamas (“because pajamas are warm and comfortable,” Thatcher said) that have stars all over them to represent the galaxy that surrounds the solar system. Costumes, candy, and the crisp crunch of autumn leaves: Halloween! A time to dress up as a monster, a superhero, or—best of all—something science-y.

That’s why, for the second year, we’re calling on you to send us photos of your science-themed Halloween costumes. Whether they’re from the department party last year or your childhood obsession with Marie Curie, we want to see your science on display.

To submit: Go to the submission site of our Tumblr and post a photo.

Include in the caption: the name, title, and affiliation of the person in the photo; a description of the costume; your name (if different); and the photographer’s name (if different). Tag the submission with “Halloween.”

It’s that simple. We’ll share these posts via social media through the end of the month. Keep tabs on our Tumblr to see submissions and get inspired for your costume this year.
