Kim Wood

Kim Wood has been fascinated by weather since she was eight years old and fell in love with hurricanes after I met a Hurricane Hunter crew as a teenager. Kim studied physics and then attended graduate school to pursue atmospheric science. She is now an assistant professor at Mississippi State University, where she continues to study hurricanes but also teaches courses on tropical meteorology and satellite meteorology. Given the exploding use of social media during hurricanes and other hazardous weather events along with her role as a professor, Kim has developed a passion for communicating both science in general and weather impacts in particular.
