Cailene is a marine scientist and outdoor enthusiast with a background in restoration ecology and biogeochemical cycling in coastal environments. Her research experience includes greenhouse gas and carbon assessments in wetlands, habitat restoration, and environmental monitoring through field research. She currently works on projects that aim to progress the marine energy industry by researching potential environmental impacts of marine energy systems. Cailene is passionate about science communication and inspiring the next generation of change-making scientist. She helps projects and scientists communicate their work to diverse audiences by leading communications for marine energy projects and supporting her lab’s STEM Ambassador program.
