Alexandrea Hurtado

Alex Hurtado is a GIS Production Technician who creates maps using satellite imagery. She spends her free time volunteering with eco-related non profits such as the Gardens on Spring Creek where she volunteers at the Butterfly House as a guide and interpreter. Alex is passionate about bridging the gap between scientists and the public through science communication. Alex is a firm believer that everyone is a scientist in their own way. She believes involving more people into the conversations of scientists will encourage the public to use science as a tool in their lives when making personal, professional, and political choices. Alex is passionate about science communication and hopes to gain experience in multiple geo-science related fields in order to better advocate for these groups in the future.
