Brandon Chan is a current PhD student at UCLA. Brandon studies how mutualistic relationships between marine bacteria and phytoplankton, tiny photosynthetic plant-like creatures, affect phytoplankton ecosystem function in the context of climate change. He also produce science communication content for Schmidt Ocean Institute, a non-profit focused on ocean exploration and research. Brandon enjoys volunteer tutoring K-12 kids who are housing insecure as well as hiking and fishing in the nearby areas. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Brandon received my undergraduate degree in marine science and journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
