5 days…

Posted by Ryan Anderson

I don’t have much time to post since I am currently wrestling some particularly beastly paper revisions that need to be done by the end of the week before my life gets really complicated. But I wanted to mention a few things here before I dive back into revisions:

  • Curiosity has already switched over to its Entry, Descent and Landing sequence. From the @MarsCuriosity twitter feed: “Timeline activated. Bleep-bop. I’m running entry, descent & landing flight software all on my own. Countdown to Mars: 5 days”
  • I am going to be at the Planetary Society’s big shindig this weekend called “Planetfest“. I’ll be hanging around the Google Mars/Eyes on the Universe booth for a few hours on Saturday, and then I will be on a panel discussion moderated by Emily Lakdawalla entitled “So You Want to Work in Space” along with a bunch of other young scientists and engineers. If you’re in Pasadena, you should come join in the festivities!
  • Here is William Shatner narrating MSL‘s landing.
  • Or if you prefer a younger Star Trek vet, here is Wil Wheaton, doing the same narration (I prefer this version).

PS – 5 DAYS!
