Carl Sagan is my Homeboy
Posted by Ryan Anderson
I am happy to report that my office mate Melissa Rice and I are both now PhDs! My defense was on Friday, and Melissa presented me with this awesome shirt:
After Melissa’s defense yesterday, we thought it would only be fitting to pose in front of the portrait of the man who inspired us to become planetary scientists. We are proud to call Carl Sagan our homeboy:
Today is the 15th anniversary of Carl Sagan’s death, and Melissa and I are only two of the thousands of people who are in the sciences today because we were inspired by Sagan. His influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
Love it! Congratulations!
A fitting tribute. And congratulations on the defense!
Congratulations on your thesis!
Who knows, maybe one day you will inspire some teenager to do some science!
Congratulations to both of you
Congratulations on the excellent shirt! Oh yeah, and on that PhD thing too…
Congrats, Doctors! Guess you’re going to have to change your blog bio.
The shirt reminds me of the time I dressed as Carl for Halloween.
Amen to that; and congrats on your PhD! Keep up the good work with the blog.
Update your CV!
Congratulations from a Sagan-Feynman-Bronowski enthusiast in the UK, although not a trained scientist.
Planetary science at Cornell as well! Legit’.
