Brutal heat and Severe Flooding

Highs reached 109 (over 40 degrees C for the rest of the more enlightened the world) in Oklahoma on Monday and it was 105 in Limon Colorado and above 105 across much of Kansas. More of The West Burns While Pensacola Floods

The intense drought out west is likely to cause more of these fires and the huge number of dead trees in the forests (due to the Pine Beetle) are certainly aggravating the situation. The 4km NOAA WRF Model did a pretty good job of forecasting the totals. The image below is from the Friday 00Z model run. Central PA. had 2-10 inches of snow out of this storm!

Nor-Easter Poised to Break East Coast Drought (Heavy snow possible as well.)

  The drought conditions from Florida to NY have been getting steadily worse, but some real relief is on the way starting tonight. A major Nor-easter is on the way as a rapidly deepening surface low runs up the East Coast on Sunday into Monday. A Break In The Heat

Well, we finally broke the heat wave. Many areas had some heavy rains over the last 48 hours as well, so that should make the farmers happy. I have a tree in the yard that’s about 3 years old.
