The Hubble Telescope View of Jupiter is Amazing

From NASA: New imagery from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope is revealing details never before seen on Jupiter. High-resolution maps and spinning globes (rendered in the 4k Ultra HD format) are the first products to come from a program to study the solar system’s outer planets each year using Hubble. The observations are designed to capture a broad range of features, including winds, clouds, storms and atmospheric chemistry. These annual studies …

The Vaccine to Prevent Crazy

This is part two, please read part one first here. It’s really true. Understanding just four concepts, involving how we filter information, can improve your critical thinking skills. I saved number four for last, and it’s by far the most fascinating. It’s called authoritarianism, and some of the most interesting research on it has been done by Dr. Bob Altemeyer, a psychologist at the Univ. of Manitoba. What if I …

We Owe Europe A Lot Of Money For Letting Us See Their Weather Model

That’s a real nightmare scenario because if it were not for the Euro model, we would have likely seen major evacuations, or they would have been underway, when the U.S. models finally …

Historic Storm Threatens the Mid-Atlantic

Hurricane Joaquin is now a Cat 3 storm with 115 mph winds tonight, but even if it does not turn toward the Mid-Atlantic coastline, we will see a significant coastal Nor’easter across the Mid-Atlantic from New Jersey to North Carolina including the Delaware and Maryland Beaches. This is because of a strong pressure gradient between a large Canadian high pressure over New England and a low pressure system in the Carolinas. …
