Communicating Science- My Talk at The AGU in Washington
Posted by Dan Satterfield
I was asked a few months back to talk about science communication at the AGU in Washington, and they recorded the talk. You can watch it below.
A note about the graph I showed from Skeptical Science. It was actually made by Environmental Scientist Dana Nuccitelli for Skeptical Science (see this post). I shot the video in Antarctica and Greenland, but video-journalist David Wood down in Huntsville was the extremely talented person who edited it.(You should be working in New York David!)
I hope you see why I love my job and consider myself to be a very lucky person. Even better, I work at a fantastic station with amazingly talented people here on the beautiful Delmarva Peninsula.

I’ve followed you, Dan, since your first WHNT broadcasts in the 90’s.
I have always wondered why you aren’t teaching.
Oh, wait – teaching has been your whole life.
And I’m one of your respectful alumni.
Thank you!
Nice of you to say Charles! Thnx much;)

Dan, that was an excellent presentation. Thanks for sharing. It is nice to see that the AMS recognizes the importance of communicating the science. Discoveries are being made at such a rapid pace, the communication side lags considerably. We (broadcast meteorologists) have our work cut out.
Thnx Jim!
