New Beginnings By The Chesapeake
Posted by Dan Satterfield
After over 19 years in Alabama, I have moved to Maryland, and started this week as the Chief Meteorologist for WBOC TV in Salisbury, MD. We are still living in boxes, but I will have a post or two up over the weekend.
I spent the day today in the chopper and below are a couple of shots of Delmarva from the air. The pictures are of Assateague Island National Seashore, and Ocean City. The Delmarva is a beautiful spot, with a real four season climate that will be a real challenge to forecast!
My family on my mother’s side is originally from Salisbury. What a lovely area! Hope that you enjoy the move. I always enjoy heading out to Assateague Island.
Thanks Evelyn! Flew over Assateague yesterday. Just beautiful.

Hope to continue seeing weather updates for Alabama 🙂
Beautiful pictures
Congratulations Dan,
I know you’ll do very well in Maryland, especially under Craig. He certainly did well in Memphis.
I found changing from WHBQ to WREG was the best career move I never made.
Good luck in Hurriance Alley.

Thanks Jim. Craig is a one in a million guy to work for- for sure!
Dan
Great to know that you completed your move, and will enjoy new challenges. Though we miss you, we hope you’ll continue educating us all about climate change!
Congratulations on the new job, Dan! Now that you live nearby, let me know if you ever want to come visit Goddard.
Thnx Maria- I like that idea!

Best of luck there Dan, but watching the weather news just isn’t the same. I always enjoyed the science details and really miss the science extras you supplied. I know that Sci-Quest misses you too.
BTW, did you see the article in the March issue of Physics Today, “Predicting and Managing Extreme Weather Events” ? I’m keeping it as a reference to use with global-warming naysayers.
I did not see it but the latest issue is on the table in the kitchen- will check it out!
