Quantum Physics is Not Difficult- Brian Cox on BBC Radio 4
Posted by Dan Satterfield
I have mentioned before that Brian Cox’s BBC series on the Wonders of the Universe and the Wonders of the Solar System were fantastic programs. For those that did not get to see them, here is a six-minute interview from the BBC Radio 4 Today program this morning. You do not have to be able to do differential equations in your head to understand quantum physics! On the other hand, if you want to work at the LHC and write papers on it…
Let me assure those unfamiliar with BBC Radio 4 and therefore not cognisant with the charming John Humphrys that he really is this sneering, patronising, supercilious and frankly rude with every guest he interviews and not merely just in the presence of scientists.
I’m looking forward to Cox and Forshaw’s forthcoming new book, although I really should get around to reading their previous effort, Why Does E=MC²: (and Why Should We Care?) first.
If anyone can stand up to John Humphreys it’s those two! I rank Why Does E=MC sq. as one of my fave astronomy books. It is really excellent- a must read. Have recc. it in a blog post here about a year ago i think.
