Mara Freilich is a PhD candidate in the MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography. Beginning in fall 2021 she will be a postdoctoral fellow at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Mara’s interdisciplinary research focuses on understanding the interactions between oceans and climate, including the role of the oceans in the carbon cycle and the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems, and on questions at the intersection of science and society. Mara is interested in fostering productive collaboration between researchers and social movements, for example to improve the response to climate change.
