Justin Higa is a a graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles studying tectonic geomorphology under Dr. Seulgi Moon. He uses fieldwork and computer models to examine how forces in Earth’s crust cause faulting, earthquakes, and landslides. He is originally from Hawaiʻi and experienced these and other natural disasters many times growing up, which pushed him to study geology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa as an undergraduate. His dream is to have my research benefit communities in Hawaiʻi and to help science students from my home jumpstart their careers.
