Kristina Pistone

“Kristina Pistone is a research scientist with the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute at NASA Ames Research Center. Her research focuses on the Earth’s radiative balance: quantifying the heating impact of Arctic sea ice loss from satellite observations, and measuring the properties and impacts of atmospheric smoke particles, largely from airborne measurements.
She has been an NSF GK-12 Fellow, a Fulbright grantee studying air pollution over Santiago de Chile, and a National Academies Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow. She holds a PhD in oceanography (climate/atmospheric science) from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and bachelor’s degrees in physics and Spanish literature.”
