Gilbert Atuga is a research scientist with Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Osnabruck University, Germany. Currently I am in my country collecting my PhD data. His research interests are in macroplastics pollution research in estuary/marine environment.

Project Description: Gilbert Atuga is currently leading a project on use of Citizen science for macroplastics monitoring in Kenya using mobile technology. He has developed a mobile application to be used in the project. Therefore, he will use this grant to create awareness on the mobile application, how it can be used to collect data, and create awareness to bring the desired change among the general population. He also hopes to share the positive impact this initiative.
