Dr. Fuentes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science at Florida State University. Her research is broadly focused on developing science-based solutions for the conservation and management of marine megafauna, especially marine turtles, with a focus on how they are impacted by current and future threats.
Project Description: Sea turtles are critically endangered as they face an array of anthropogenic threats globally. Although several efforts exist to bring awareness to how humans can help conserve sea turtles, no systematic educational campaign has been conducted to date coupling information on impacts of sea turtles to various threats based on current literature with associated actions that can be undertaken. The funded project will create a series of infographics translating recent literature on impacts to sea turtles and actionable items on how the broad community can make a difference.
