5 Years on Mars!
Posted by Ryan Anderson
The twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity landed on Mars five years ago this month, and they’re still going strong! Not bad for a mission that was supposed to last three months! To celebrate, NASA has released a cool video with rover team members, including principal investigator Steve Squyres reflecting on the mission, and a podcast with rover project manager John Callas.
As we “speak”, the rover team is holding a meeting in California discussing the latest results and where to go next. I am unfortunately not attending, but if I hear any big news that I can share, you can be sure that I will.
Those rovers are amazing!
Thanks for your blog – I cite the rovers as an inspiration to draw on in these bleak economic times – I know of few greater stories of triumph over adversity – the culture that created Spirit and Opportunity will see a wonderful future. Intelligence and persistence will make that certain.
