Holst's 'The Planets'
Posted by Ryan Anderson
A month or so ago, Cornell hosted a planetary science conference, and one of the big events associated with that was a performance of Holst’s famous symphony “The Planets”. For each movement, some of us in the astronomy department put together a slideshow to go with the music. The concert was totally awesome, and there is now a video and audio version available online! For me, firefox crashed when I followed the link, so you can either use another browser, or download the video file and/or audio file directly, rather than streaming it.
We’re working on getting higher quality videos posted online, but until then, you can enjoy this version! You should especially enjoy the Neptune movement’s slideshow, put together by yours truly.
Hello! I watched your sslideshow if the Planets and it was AMAZING. I a. Part of a professional band in Colorado who is working on a similar endeavor. Would you be at all willing to allow us to use your sslideshow with our performance of the Holst? We could compensate by (of course) giving credits and perhaps some program advertisements for Cornell University…. Let me know if this is a possibility!
