Port Townsend in Washington State<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_tOjdiMyWLk\">excellent video on<\/a> Youtube shows the collapse of a north-facing bluff in soft glacial till.\u00a0 There is a<a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonlandscape.blogspot.co.uk\/2013\/10\/top-of-bluff-collapse-west-of-port.html\"> full description of the site and the event<\/a>\u00a0on excellent the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonlandscape.blogspot.co.uk\/\">Observations of Washington State Landscapes, Geology, Geography, History and Land Use<\/a> blog by Dan McShane:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Is this the end of the End of the World?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_tOjdiMyWLk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The video catches the initial collapse event, which happened on 13th October at about 6 pm,\u00a0 really well, with fractures opening as the main block detaches, as this screenshot shows:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2013\/10\/13_10-Port-Townsend-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7070\" alt=\"13_10 Port Townsend 1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2013\/10\/13_10-Port-Townsend-1.png\" width=\"635\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2013\/10\/13_10-Port-Townsend-1.png 635w, https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2013\/10\/13_10-Port-Townsend-1-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.
