Thanks to both Ellen Hardy and Alexandre Mathieu for their help with this one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kval.com\/news\/local\/Sheriff-Landslide-halts-man-in-stolen-taxi-189730801.html\">KVAL.com yesterday<\/a> carried the story of Cody Pettit, who stole a taxi at\u00a0 knife point on Saturday, and set off for a joyride in Brookings, Oregon, USA.\u00a0 He was spotted by a police officer, who duly gave chase.\u00a0 This ended somewhat abruptly when Pettit turned onto a minor road, only to crash into a landslide that was blocking it:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5900\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2013\/02\/05\/landslide-oddities-number-1-arresting-a-felon\/13_02-theft-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5900\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5900\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5900\" title=\"13_02 theft 1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2013\/02\/13_02-theft-1-e1360074986141.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"478\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5900\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">http:\/\/www.kval.com\/news\/local\/Sheriff-Landslide-halts-man-in-stolen-taxi-189730801.html<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pettit was duly arrested and has now been charged with &#8220;Robbery in the First Degree, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Menacing x 2, Harassment x 5, Reckless Endangering, Theft of Services, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Coercion&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Officers have yet to disclose whether the landslide is in line for an award.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday a man stole a car in Brookings, Oregon.
