{"id":44337,"date":"2023-08-03T07:22:41","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T07:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=44337"},"modified":"2023-08-03T07:22:41","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T07:22:41","slug":"arunachal-pradesh-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2023\/08\/03\/arunachal-pradesh-1\/","title":{"rendered":"A very lucky escape in a debris flow in Arunachal Pradesh, northern India"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>A very lucky escape in a debris flow in Arunachal Pradesh, northern India<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/arunachaltimes.in\/\">Arunachal Times<\/a> has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arunachaltimes_\/status\/1684963412986785793\">tweeted a remarkable video<\/a> showing an exceptionally lucky escape for the driver and passengers of a car that was struck by a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?s=debris+flow&amp;submit.x=0&amp;submit.y=0&amp;mswhere=blog\">debris flow<\/a> in Arunachal Pradesh in northern India.\u00a0 The event occurred in the Ribi Korong area on the road between Pashighat and Yingkiong on Friday 28 July 2023. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arunachaltimes_\/status\/1684963412986785793\">This is the video<\/a>:-<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The passengers of a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TataNexon?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TataNexon<\/a> vehicle had a lucky escape when a sudden burst of water caused by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HeavyRainfall?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HeavyRainfall<\/a> washed away their vehicle at Ribi Korong area on the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Pasighat?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Pasighat<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Yingkiong?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Yingkiong<\/a> road on Friday morning. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/84ghoj8Jz6\">pic.twitter.com\/84ghoj8Jz6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Arunachal Times (@arunachaltimes_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arunachaltimes_\/status\/1684963412986785793?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>One passenger escaped just as the debris flow struck the car, and fled to the near side of the channel.\u00a0 The driver and another passenger were in the vehicle when it was struck.\u00a0 They were extremely fortunate that the debris flow front pushed the car to the side of the flow, where it became wedged, rather than either rolling it or incorporating it into the landslide.
