{"id":34582,"date":"2020-07-09T06:39:10","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T06:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=34582"},"modified":"2020-07-13T06:49:30","modified_gmt":"2020-07-13T06:49:30","slug":"shimen-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2020\/07\/09\/shimen-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Shimen County, Hunan Province: a 3 million cubic metre rainfall triggered landslide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Shimen County, Hunan Province: a 3 million cubic metre rainfall triggered landslide<\/h4>\n<p>Heavy rainfall continues to fall across a swathe of Southern China, causing landslides and floods.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xinhuanet.com\/english\/2020-07\/09\/c_139199783.htm\">This morning the national observatory has issued orange rainfall warnings for Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Hunan and Guizhou<\/a>, forecasting up to 280 mm of rainfall, with peak intensities of over 70 mm per hour.\u00a0 This is landslide-inducing levels of precipitation.<\/p>\n<p>In Shimen County in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?s=hunan&amp;submit.x=0&amp;submit.y=0&amp;mswhere=blog\">Hunan Province<\/a> the rainfall has triggered a very large landslide that has destroyed five houses.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/news.cgtn.com\/news\/2020-07-08\/Massive-landslide-hits-south-China-s-Hunan-Province-no-one-injured-RXTdKqQHhS\/index.html\">The landslide was caught on video<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Pv9iEh2Y_kE\">uploaded to Youtube<\/a>.
