{"id":3320,"date":"2011-07-08T15:32:57","date_gmt":"2011-07-08T15:32:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=3320"},"modified":"2011-07-08T15:32:57","modified_gmt":"2011-07-08T15:32:57","slug":"a-great-fellowship-opportunity-for-junior-researchers-and-later-for-senior-research-fellows-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2011\/07\/08\/a-great-fellowship-opportunity-for-junior-researchers-and-later-for-senior-research-fellows-too\/","title":{"rendered":"A great fellowship opportunity for junior researchers (and later for senior research fellows too)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here at Durham we have just announced a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dur.ac.uk\/ias\/diferens\/\">Research Fellowship scheme<\/a> for both junior and senior researchers, funded under the Marie Curie scheme.\u00a0 These fellowships can be associated with any of the University Research Institutes, including the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience of which I am the director.\u00a0 These are the two schemes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The JRF scheme is aimed at researchers with post-doctoral  experience, but recent doctorate grdautaes of exceptional ability and researchers  who have followed non-traditional academic career paths (such as in  public corporations, NGOs or industry) are also encouraged to apply.\u00a0  JRFs will pursue new research ideas of their own design, undertaken in  collaboration within academic researchers at Durham University. In order that the JRFs can complete a significant piece of original  research during the Fellowship, the normal period of the Fellowship will  be 2 years, though Fellows can make a case for a shorter or longer  period with a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.\u00a0 The fellowship provides a salaried post at Durham.<\/p>\n<p>Up to 14 Junior Fellowships will be available, to commence between 1 October 2011 and 1 April 2012.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible,\u00a0  &#8220;researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity  (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more  than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.  Compulsory national service and\/or short stays such as holidays are not  taken into account&#8221;.
