Fortunately, according to the track map (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrlmry.navy.mil\/TC.html\">here<\/a>) the storm has now moved out into the South China Sea and is heading for Hainan Island in China:<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Parma-2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 400px;height: 201px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Parma-2.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In its wake the typhoon has left a train of landslide devastation.  Combining reports from <a href=\"http:\/\/newsinfo.inquirer.net\/breakingnews\/nation\/view\/20091010-229413\/Death-toll-from-floods-slides-now-224-and-climbing\">inquirer.net<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmanews.tv\/story\/174308\/death-toll-from-pepeng-rises-to-264-dozens-more-missing\">GMANews.tv<\/a>, the picture appears to be as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Total death toll in the Cordillera region is 214-222 people.  A further 53 people are reported to be missing.  Most of the deaths are from landslides.<\/p>\n<p>The largest event occurred at Barangay Puguis in La Trinidad town, where 64 people are known to have died and a further 24 are reported to be buried in the debris.
