I<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DailySabah\/status\/1128960969009508352\">mage tweeted by the Daily Sabah.<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysabah.com\/turkey\/2019\/05\/16\/major-landslide-destroys-53-buildings-mosque-in-northern-turkeys-ordu\">News reports suggest<\/a> that 53 buildings, including 31 houses, have been destroyed, as has a mosque.\u00a0 Fortunately the site had already been evacuated because of earlier movements &#8211; clearly the properties at risk extend well beyond the block that has moved.\u00a0 Based upon the images, I believe that this is the location on Google Earth:-<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_31014\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31014\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31014\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2019\/05\/19_05-Ordu-3-e1558023160650.jpg\" alt=\"Ordu\" width=\"640\" height=\"382\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-31014\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Google Earth imagery of the likely site of the landslide at Ordu in Turkey on 16th May 2019.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>If so the location is 40.672, 37.379.\u00a0 Interestingly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planet.com\/\">Planet Labs<\/a> have caught the landslide in action, or shortly after it slipped, on one of their Planetscope images.\u00a0 The two images below show the affected area on 14th May 2019 at 07:53 UTC and on 16th May 2019 at 06:55 UTC.
