The storm is currently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrlmry.navy.mil\/TC.html\">forecast<\/a> to track across the southern part of Luzon on Friday evening:<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Mirinae-1.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 400px;height: 179px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Mirinae-1.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The 24 hour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssd.noaa.gov\/PS\/TROP\/etrap.html?storm=MIRINAE\">eTRaP precipitation forecast<\/a> for the storm suggests that it is, as expected, inducing substantial amounts of precipitation along track:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Mirinae-2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 400px;height: 284px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/09_10-Mirinae-2.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>At the moment the storm is quite fast moving (15 knots) which from a precipitation perspective is probably good news.  From a landslide perspective the worry however is that the storm appears likely to induce heavy rainfall in the areas most seriously affected by Typhoons Parma and Ketsana:<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/PARMA-09.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 400px;height: 362px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/PARMA-09.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/KETSANA-09.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px;text-align: center;cursor: pointer;width: 400px;height: 362px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/KETSANA-09.gif\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>Indeed, the similarity between the track of Typhoon Ketsana and the forecast for Typhoon Mirinae is of some concern.
