{"id":26907,"date":"2018-02-19T07:25:21","date_gmt":"2018-02-19T07:25:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=26907"},"modified":"2018-02-19T07:25:21","modified_gmt":"2018-02-19T07:25:21","slug":"puerto-venus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2018\/02\/19\/puerto-venus\/","title":{"rendered":"Puerto Venus: massive debris flows in Colombia yesterday"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><span class=\"notranslate\">Puerto Venus<\/span>: massive debris flows in Colombia yesterday<\/h4>\n<p>The municipality of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2011\/12\/14\/new-landslides-in-colombia-15-people-reported-killed\/\">Narino<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2015\/05\/19\/salgar-1\/\">Antioquia<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2017\/04\/19\/landslides-colombia-1\/\">Colombia<\/a> was affected by large debris flows, triggered by heavy rainfall, late last week.\u00a0 Worst affected appears to be the village of <span class=\"notranslate\">Puerto Venus, which was struck by a large debris flow, destroying 12 houses.\u00a0 The debris flow was captured in two remarkable videos that have been posted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bJcW1I7v8GY\">Youtube<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bJcW1I7v8GY\">This one shows the debris flow from one side of the river<\/a>:-<\/span><\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bJcW1I7v8GY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jQqv2fn0Xzs\">And this one shows the same debris flow from the other sid<\/a>e:-<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jQqv2fn0Xzs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elcolombiano.com\/antioquia\/avalancha-en-corregimiento-de-puerto-venus-narino-antioquia-YL8195724\">El Colombiano has a detailed article<\/a> (In Spanish, though <a href=\"https:\/\/translate.google.com\/translate?sl=es&amp;tl=en&amp;js=y&amp;prev=_t&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elcolombiano.com%2Fantioquia%2Favalancha-en-corregimiento-de-puerto-venus-narino-antioquia-YL8195724&amp;edit-text=\">Google Translate does a reasonable job<\/a>) about the landslide, together with some images of the events.
