{"id":26626,"date":"2018-01-30T08:26:16","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T08:26:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=26626"},"modified":"2018-01-30T08:26:16","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T08:26:16","slug":"three-landslide-videos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2018\/01\/30\/three-landslide-videos\/","title":{"rendered":"Three landslide videos"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Three landslide videos:-<\/h4>\n<p>It has been a while since I <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2017\/07\/10\/arunachal-pradesh\/\">posted any footage<\/a>, so here are three <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2017\/09\/11\/dimye-earthflow-1\/\">landslide videos<\/a> that I have recently found:-<\/p>\n<h4>Clearing the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang (SUKE) highway in Malaysia<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R_zv1Mk5j-I\">New Straits Times has an interesting video<\/a> of work to clear the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang (SUKE) highway in Malaysia.\u00a0 It appears that an excavator is removing debris from the road and dumping it down the slope.\u00a0 The large boulder generates an impressive amount of highly dangerous fly rock:-<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R_zv1Mk5j-I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<h4>A very lucky escape in China<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Nm9anyyHAZE\">This bus just managed to avoid being struck by a significant rockfall in China<\/a> at night:-<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nm9anyyHAZE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>The key seems to be that he spotted debris in the road that had fallen during precursory activity.\u00a0 It appears that his act of slowing the bus meant that it avoided being flattened.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<h4>An impressive rockfall in Slovakia<\/h4>\n<p class=\"title style-scope ytd-video-primary-info-renderer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=193SfrdprHI\">This rockfall occurred in Strecno, Slovakia in July<\/a>, but I have only just come across the video.\u00a0 It shows a highly complex detachment event that involves sliding, toppling and finally free fall:-<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/193SfrdprHI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_26647\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26647\" class=\"size-full wp-image-26647\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2018\/01\/18_01-Slovakia-1-e1517299967369.png\" alt=\"three landslide videos\" width=\"640\" height=\"382\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-26647\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A rockfall at Strecno in Slovakia on 18th July 2017.
