images of the failure of the impounding embankment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to both&nbsp; Peter Diehl, PeterOi and an anonymous commenter for pointing out the locations of images of the embankment that failed to release the landslide of toxic sludge in Hungary.&nbsp; it looks rather peculiar, but I&#8217;ll reserve judgement until better information is available.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the mainstream media has finally cottoned onto the story, which now appears near to the top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/\">BBC News front page<\/a>.&nbsp; The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-11475361\">BBC article<\/a> has a good image of the impact of the material downhill from the breach, paired with a map of the location:<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_10-Hungary-6.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"606\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_10-Hungary-6.gif\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The article also notes that there are now real concerns about this sludge causing an environmental disaster when and it it enters the river system;
