These are helpful in confirming observations from the aerial imagery featured yesterday that a section of the tailings dam has moved.&nbsp; This images shows the pipe running across the top surface of the dam:<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_10-Hungary-14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_10-Hungary-14.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>As expected, the image shows that the main block shown has moved to the right and subsided.&nbsp; However, it is less clear to me as to whether at the remainder of the dam to the breach has actually moved.&nbsp; However, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mti.hu\/english\/article\/2010\/10\/10\/sludge_flood_-_second_spill_can-t_be_prevented-_says_state_secy-505952\">newspaper reports<\/a> suggest that this wall is now considered to be so unstable that it is likely to collapse.&nbsp; Attempts are underway to build a bund to contain the resultant spill.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, there is now some post-event Google Earth imagery available for download <a href=\"http:\/\/bbs.keyhole.com\/ubb\/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&amp;Number=948808&amp;filename=Toxic%20sludge%20floods%20towns%20in%20Hungary.kmz\">here<\/a>.&nbsp;
