He immediately pressed his brakes and reversed about 10 meters. The mountain collapsed in a minute and buried the place. But thankfully, the driver was quick enough to avert any untowardly incident.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The video is quite exciting.\u00a0 The consequences should the bus have been in the wrong place are clear:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bruB0ZTqVxY?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Some images of the landslide appear to show a car caught up in the debris:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19198\" style=\"width: 644px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19198\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19198\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2016\/07\/16_07-Yaan-1.jpg\" alt=\"Ya'an City landslide\" width=\"634\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2016\/07\/16_07-Yaan-1.jpg 634w, https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2016\/07\/16_07-Yaan-1-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-19198\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ya&#8217;an City landslide via The People&#8217;s Daily<\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately this looks to have been survivable for the occupants.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/m.chinadaily.com.cn\/en\/2016-07\/12\/content_26056252.htm\">China Daily<\/a> has more information about the landslide:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Huang Guiquan has been a driver all his life. He attributed his swift thinking to his long driving experience and familiarity with the road.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;It is important for a driver to be observant of the environment all around rather than just staring at the road ahead,&#8221; he said. It was raining. He decided to stop the bus when he saw some stones falling down the mountain slope. &#8220;Trees swayed on the mountainside, but there was no wind at that moment. I thought that it must be the mountain itself that was shaking so I backed up the bus,&#8221; he said.\u00a0\u00a0 The road is high on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and prone to snow in winter and landslides in summer. Huang is familiar with the road conditions on all his regular routes.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;I am particularly careful when driving through the sections with sharp turns, steep slopes or frequent landslides,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It is always better to stop than rush when in danger.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A video has appeared on Youtube showing a very near miss between a landslide and a crowded bus in Ya&#8217;an City, Sichuan, China.
