{"id":18304,"date":"2016-04-13T07:07:33","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T07:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=18304"},"modified":"2016-04-13T07:07:33","modified_gmt":"2016-04-13T07:07:33","slug":"karakoram-highway-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2016\/04\/13\/karakoram-highway-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Landslide damage to the Karakoram Highway"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Landslide damage to the Karakoram Highway<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pamirtimes.net\/2016\/04\/12\/prolonged-closure-of-karakoram-highway-disrupts-life-in-gilgit-baltistan\/\">The Pamir Times yesterday ran a news story <\/a>about the ongoing disruption caused by extensive landsliding on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2016\/04\/05\/kohistan-1\/\">Karakoram Highway in Pakistan<\/a>.\u00a0 From the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Karakoram Highway has been closed for traffic since 2nd\u00a0April, the day torrential rainfall triggered hazards wreaked havoc across the Gilgit-Baltistan region, killing 16 people, mostly in the Diamer District.
