{"id":18190,"date":"2016-03-31T07:29:18","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T07:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=18190"},"modified":"2016-03-31T07:29:18","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T07:29:18","slug":"pakistan-landslide-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2016\/03\/31\/pakistan-landslide-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan: a highly destructive landslide caught on video"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Pakistan: a highly destructive landslide caught on video<\/h5>\n<p>A new video has appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EuIhgKjUxQs\">Youtube<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveleak.com\/view?i=dfe_1459343355\">Liveleak<\/a> showing a landslide in Pakistan.\u00a0 The slide appears to have started high up on the slope, but unfortunately the video quality is not good enough to ascertain properly what is happening.\u00a0 It appears to accelerate rapidly down the lower slopes &#8211; still from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EuIhgKjUxQs\">Youtube video<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Technically this is a combination of an induced failure and a rapid entrainment event.\u00a0 It illustrates beautifully the complexity of landslides, and why it is so hard to forecast their behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly there is no further information about this landslide &#8211;
