No casualty has been reported so far.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EfdO_-sp-Yo\">And this is from the other<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EfdO_-sp-Yo?rel=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>With accompanying text that says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Live and Exclusive : landslide near Aut tunnel kullu, Himachal Pradesh (India)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I do think that this is a very interesting pair of videos in many ways.\u00a0 The main collapse event, as captured in the film, is fascinating.\u00a0 This is a still from the video as the initial collapse develops:-<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17111\" style=\"width: 273px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17111\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17111\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-1.jpg\" alt=\"Manali\" width=\"263\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-1.jpg 263w, https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-1-183x300.jpg 183w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17111\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rockfall at Manali,via Youtube<\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>And this is a few seconds later:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17113\" style=\"width: 262px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17113\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17113\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-2.jpg\" alt=\"Manali\" width=\"252\" height=\"436\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-2.jpg 252w, https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Manali-2-173x300.jpg 173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17113\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rockfall at Manali<\/p><\/div>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>The rockfall appears to have developed in the lower block, nearer the camera, first, followed by the larger slice, further from the camera, thereafter.\u00a0 But interestingly the large initial block appears to have failed in one go, before fragmenting, but with the collapse being preceded by many small rockfalls.\u00a0 This is consistent with an event that is dominated by late stage fracture growth to promote the development of a detachment surface along which the failure occurred.\u00a0 Once again, road user have been protected by the small pre-collapse rockfalls, which were sufficient to cause road users to evacuate the area, and of course to film with their cameras.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<h5><\/h5>\n<h5>Congjiang, China landslide video<\/h5>\n<p>Meanwhile, another really interesting video has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YNF5-hYHFMo\">appeared on Youtube courtesy of CCTV, the Chinese broadcaster<\/a>.\u00a0 The text that has been posted with it says the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0Surveillance camera on a street in Congjiang county in Gansu Province recorded the moment two buildings were destroyed by a landslide on Tuesday morning.
