Vitoria motorway in Spain on 27th November 2015.\u00a0 The main failure event was captured on video, and is now on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TRhktvXBbC8\">Youtube<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TRhktvXBbC8?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>I am impressed with the boldness of the highway authority in allowing one side of the road to remain open whilst this failure occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Very helpfully, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_grasas_\">Fats Grasas<\/a> has tweeted a sequence of images from a range of sources of the history of the slope.\u00a0 This appears to be a Google Street View image from 2009:-<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17061\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Spain-1-e1449127595585.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17061\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17061\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2015\/12\/15_12-Spain-1-e1449127595585.jpg\" alt=\"Eskoriatza - Vitoria\" width=\"640\" height=\"364\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-17061\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eskoriatza &#8211;
