Based upon this image (<a href=\"http:\/\/tw.news.yahoo.com\/photo\/url\/d\/i\/100425\/8\/20100425_3621935\/20100425_3621935.jpg.html\">source<\/a>):<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_04-Taiwan-8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"272\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_04-Taiwan-8.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The location appears to be here:<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_04-Taiwan-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/files\/2010\/10\/10_04-Taiwan-6.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>It appears that the failure has occurred on the cutslope shown in the centre of the image, with the margin of the slide being close to the bridge (which can be seen in the first image on top of the debris).&nbsp; Thus, it appears to be a large cut slope failure. <\/p>\n<p>This is certainly not the first time a cut slope has failed on a major highway, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/wp-content\/scripts\/daveslandslideblog.blogspot.com.bouncer.php\/daveslandslideblog.blogspot.com\/2009\/11\/basic-physics-of-landslides-is-same.html\">as these two examples show<\/a>.&nbsp;
