{"id":10254,"date":"2014-07-10T07:46:11","date_gmt":"2014-07-10T07:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/?p=10254"},"modified":"2014-07-10T07:46:11","modified_gmt":"2014-07-10T07:46:11","slug":"shawa-mudslide-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2014\/07\/10\/shawa-mudslide-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Shawa mudslide: first pictures of another mining-related landslide?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>Shawa mudslide<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/china\/2014-07\/10\/c_133474162.htm\">Xinhua reports<\/a> that the rescue operation for the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.agu.org\/landslideblog\/2014\/07\/09\/shawa-village-1\/\">Shawa mudslide in Fugong County, Yunnan Province in China<\/a> has now been completed, with 17 people killed and one injured. Details of the slide are sketchy, but it does appear to have been triggered by monsoon rainfall.\u00a0 The reports about it are somewhat contradictory, with some appearing to emphasise that the landslide was &#8220;natural&#8221;, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/china\/2014-07\/10\/c_133474162.htm\">whilst others note that it destroyed a silicon mine<\/a>.
