A video has been posted onto Youtube showing a landslide near Buguias in the Philippines on 4th November. The video was captured by Kersee Masillem, who was on a bus that stopped short of the site of the landslide
Two articles on Icelandic Met Office website provide detail on the Fagraskógarfjall landslide. The slide, which was detected by the seismic network, had a source volume of about 7 million cubic metres and showed quite a high level of mobility
On Saturday 5th May a spectacular landslide at Mabian Yi in Sichuan Province in China was caught on video. Fortunately there were no casualties
In October 2017 a large rockslide occurred at the Candelaria mine in Chile, reducing production by about 20%. Planet Labs imagery captures the aftermath of this large wedge failure
In a new paper in Engineering Geology, Carla et al (2018) demonstrate how a combination of ground-based radar and INSAR could have been used to predict a major landslide in a copper mine
In a paper just published in the journal Landslides, Gauthier et al. 2017 use a 3D reconstruction to estimate that the tsunamigenic June 2017 Karrat Fjord rock avalanche in Greenland had a volume of 58 million cubic metres.
