A New Year’s resolution: help students (and Chuck Todd) feel hope towards climate action
This is my New Year’s resolution – I have to increase the themes of hope, optimism, action, and advocacy in my courses. I need every student to leave my courses feeling like they can do something that matters and makes a difference.
Laura Guertin is a Distinguished Professor of Earth Sciences at Penn State Brandywine in Media, PA. Her research focuses on how technology can enhance teaching and student learning in introductory-level geoscience courses for non-science majors. Her blog focuses on geoscience education/outreach, science communication, and technology tools in the classroom, online, and in the field.
