‘Tis the season… for Earth science hashtags

Posted by Laura Guertin

As we are heading in to that most joyous time of the year – the time when we are scrambling to complete grading student projects, writing and grading final exams, getting that AGU poster ready and heading off to the conference, etc. – I thought I would post something lighthearted at which we can laugh, the joyous season of hashtags (to learn more about hashtags, view this page or this video).  And I’ll kick things off with NASA’s recent addition the day after Thanksgiving (and learn more at NASA’s website):

You could say there is a hashtag for every day of the week, such as:

  • #MappingMonday, #VolcanoMonday, #MineralMonday, #MollsucMonday
  • #TectonicTuesday, #TephraTuesday, #TrilobiteTuesday
  • #WildlifeWednesday
  • #ThinSectionThursday
  • #FossilFriday, #OctopusFriday, #FieldPhotoFriday

But let’s also acknowledge the fun hashtag trends we’ve seen, such as:

There is a great Storify on both of these trending hashtags you may want to review for a smile.

And there’s one final hashtag everyone should be following and using for the next couple of weeks… AGU’s Fall Meeting hashtag, #AGU14
