What to watch for 9 December at #AGU20

Tomorrow marks the mid-point of #AGU20 and we hope everyone is hitting their stride! Here are some sessions to check out:

  • We will gather to recognize the 2020 Union Medals, Awards, and Prizes as well as the Fellows at 6 p.m. ET in the online meeting platform and on AGU’s Facebook page.
    • Join in to give your live congratulations to these deserving recipients!
    • And check out the 2020 Award Showcase, which highlights all the winners.
  • Wednesday’s featured plenary speaker is Rita Colwell, who will discuss Oceans, Climate, and Human Health: Lessons from Cholera for Covid-19. Rita also has a new book on her distinguished career and fighting sexism in science, and she recently talked about helping start the AGU Journal GeoHealth.
  • Union sessions include U006 – Modeling Multisector Dynamics to Inform Adaptive Pathways and U007 – Confounding Majors Disasters in 2019–2020.
  • In the Virtu-ale Happy Hour at 3 p.m. PT Adler Planetarium’s Dr. Andrew Johnston sits down with Jerry Woodfill, a former NASA Warning Systems Engineer, to talk about Apollo 13.
  • Hear from and engage with a panel of science policy experts about timely issues facing their nations or global regions, as well as ways in which scientists can get involved, in Science Policy Around the World at 6 p.m. PT.
  • Look for additional suggestions for what to see and do in the daily AGU TV clip in the #AGU20 Lobby.
